(Thursday, February 11, 2010) Christa Breslford, a Ph.D. student in the School of Sustainability, Arizona State University, was volunteering with her brother at an adult literacy project near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She lost her right leg, below the knee, as a result of injuries from the 7.0 earthquake on January 12, 2010. She is also a talented and passionate rock climber. There will be a silent auction held at the Boulders on Broadway, 530 W. Broadway Rd, Tempe from 6:30-8:00 PM to help raise money for her medical costs not covered by insurance, a climbing-specific prosthesis and other costs associated with getting back to a normal life and school. From 6:30-midnight Boulders on Broadway will have food and beverages on sale with a portion of the proceeds to go to her. Tickets are $10/person (includes a raffle ticket). Variety of auction items – Phoenix Suns tickets, private and group yoga lessons, gift certificates, art, and much more. Retail values from $50-$100.
