Sandy Askland and I will again be offering a Law and Sustainability class spring semester (SOS 591 #21317; LAW 791 # 14623). Our goal/hope was to have an equal number of Law students and Sustainability students, although so far (and also last spring) it has mostly attracted students from Law (and one of the SOS students last spring was a lawyer!) The class description and schedule are attached. We'd like to get some more SOS participants because we've found in the past (especially in a Legal Aspects of Geology class that I taught a couple of times) that the law and science students learn as much from each other about their different world views as they do from the lectures. We offer different perspectives from practicing lawyers, environmental experts, and others. Corporation Commission Chair Kris Mayes, Phoenix land use guru Grady Gammage Jr., and College of Law Dean Paul Berman will all be speaking, and we'll have a field trip to the Decision Theater to learn about the WaterSim tool from the Decision Center for a Desert City project.
